Diners Club International (founded as Diners Club) chiefly offers charge cards, but some credit cards are also available. Diners Club was launched in 1950, with 27 participating restaurants. By the mid 1960’s, there was 1.3 million Diners Club cardholders.
Today, new Diners Club cards have the Discover logo on them, since Discover Financial Services purchased Diners Club International from Citibank in 2008 and merged the North American Discover Network with the international Diners Club Network. Some payment processors, including PayPal, can not process Diners Club cards that are so old that they do not have the Discover logo.
